Artist's note: My drawing of a fine bay horse titled, "Lone Star" honors the state of Texas and its contribution to the development of the Quarter Horse breed. Part of my series of close-up views of a Quarter Horse's face, this beautiful bay wears a finely tooled leather headstall adorned with a sterling silver roundel featuring a lone star and the words State of Texas. He represents the pride and free spirit of the people who call this great state home.
