Artist's note: The "Yellow Rose of Texas" decorates the sterling concho of the headstall worn by this pretty sorrel Quarter Horse. Adding a feminine touch, I imagine this being chosen by a Texas cowgirl to show her love for her home state. I hope fond memories of the song and the legend come to mind when you see this Quarter Horse portrait, part of my ongoing series of drawings featuring large horse heads wearing western gear.
