Earl is known for realistic watercolors, painting scenes of contemporary ranch cowboys, their horses and livestock, and the landscapes surrounding them. The key characteristic of his work is the strong use of light and shadow.

Earl’s celebrated career includes accolades such as being selected for the 2013 Signature Artist for America’s Horse in Art and the Kansas Livestock Association’s 100th Anniversary Commemorative Limited-Edition print. In 2010, he was inducted into the Kansas Cowboy Hall of Fame. His works have been featured on numerous rodeo programs, for the El Paso Southwestern Roundup, Cheyenne Frontier Days, Working Ranch Cowboys Association’s World Championship Ranch Rodeo, and World Paint Horse Show.

He has also been featured in countless magazines, including America’s Horse, The Cowboy, Western Horseman, Paint Horse Journal, The Cattlemen, and Art of the West.
