In 2005, he was selected as a Distinguished Alumni from Oklahoma State University and in 2012 was elected into membership in the Cowboy Artists of America organization.

H was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2014 and in 2017 he was the first Oklahoma Artist to be inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.  H was the recipient of the James Earle Fraser Sculpture award at the 2020 Prix de West Art show and Sale at the National Cowboy Museum. H lives near Kremlin, Oklahoma with his wife Edna Mae.
