Susan Hackney

Born and raised in Abilene, Texas, Susan has had a love for animals and an interest in art since childhood; her first art award was in the fifth grade. Moving to Houston, she completed a classical drawing and painting three-year apprenticeship with Lajos Markos, which was an education unequalled.

While developing her personal style, Susan has continued to study with various members of the Cowboy Artists of America and others to perfect her painting and knowledge. Susan’s ability to capture her subject’s personality and expression has been celebrated throughout her career.

Susan is a member of the American Academy of Equine Art, Oil Painters of America, and American Women Artists. She has participated in numerous juried and invitational art shows and appears in magazines, including Western Art Collector and Southwest Art.
