Kevin J. McDonald

Kevin graduated from Du Cret School of Art in 1981, where he studied under noted illustrator Peter Caras. Now, after a 40-year career in corporate graphics, he is focusing on his paintings: “American history and art are my main interest and a perfect match for my artwork. Including horses in my paintings is just a given!”

Gathering inspiration for his work, Kevin has traveled across the American West from Arizona to Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and South Dakota.

“I’m inspired to portray characters and subjects from American history - native people, explorers, and pioneers who settled and crossed this continent, and their interaction. They represent the true grit and individual spirit that molded this country. The scenes and characters that I paint hopefully make the viewer more aware of their contributions,” Kevin says.
